Sterling “Spiff Sinatra” White, Jr. is a multi-faceted musician, producer, engineer, and songwriter. Born in “The Birthplace of Jazz”, New Orleans, LA. His passion for music at an early age led to him picking up the trumpet, and ultimately joining the Eleanor McMain High School band under the mentorship of Bryan K. Washington. This is where Spiff education of music, theory and leadership development began. While a member of McMain Marching Mustangs, Spiff was a Section Leader, 1st Chair All-State trumpet player, member of the All-State Choir & professionally a member of the Stooges Brass Band.
Hurricane Katrina would strike during Spiff’s senior year of high school, forcing him to relocate to Atlanta, GA., where he would attend Southwest Dekalb High School under the tutelage of SWD’s Director of Bands, James Seda. By the time Spiff joined SWD Marching Panthers, they were already known around the world for being the band portrayed by Atlanta A&T in the hit movie “Drumline’. The program is known for pumping out stars and world renowned talent.
Spiff’s musical acumen and dedication in high school would lead to him receiving a music scholarship from Norfolk State University where he quickly excelled the leadership ranks from Rookie Section Leader, then Asst. Section Leader & landing the Head Section by his 3rd year. In 2011, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and graduated Cum Laude.
After a brief stint back in New Orleans, in 2013, Spiff moved back to ATL to form STARTIN5 Production company with college friend, Jared “JB” Brown. They eventually worked closely with The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, a production team known for producing “Aston Martin Music”, “Maybach Music 1-4” & “Sixteen”. Him and JB played live horns for their projects. Up until 2018, Spiff operated his studio in his mother's basement, where he worked on various projects while also teaching at Southwest Dekalb, Panola Way Elementary & Kennesaw Charter.
In 2017 while working at Street Execs, where he would meet his eventual long-term manager Brit “Mac” Nero. He then connected with multi-platinum producer and songwriter, Sonny Digital, building one of his pivotal friendships on his journey. Spiff’s musical genius, production, and engineering credits expanded, composing for Marvel’s “Captain America & the Winter Soldier”, Drumline 2, The Quad, Little, Vedo, Jadakiss, Flau Jae, Travis Porter, Lou Will, Skooly, Lil Harold, Summer Walker, and many others.
In 2020, Spiff & JB joined forces with Isaiah “ibmixing” Brown, adding the key element that would complete their sound. They developed artist Jailen Josey, executive-producing & engineering her debut EP, “Illustrations”. Throughout the years that followed,, the foundations of what would become 42 Dugg & EST Gee’s anthem “Thump Shit” was created. This record became the anchor to create their joint project, Last Ones Left, putting STARTIN5 on the radar as Billboard-charting producers on both Hot 100 & Hot 200.
In 2022 & 2023, Spiff Executive Produced Swavay’s “Almetha’s Son” & Sonny Digital’s debut album “Dolores Son”. He mixed those as well as 21 Lil Harold’s “After the Curse” & Mike Dime’s “Texas Boy”. While mixing these albums, Spiff added Dolby ATMOS as another skillset to his arsenal of creative abilities.
Spiff, alongside his production partners, composed and perform live horns in Grammy-nominated songstress Summer Walker’s highly anticipated Clear 2 LIVE performance, The list of artists Spiff has produced or/and engineered for include: 21 Savage, 42 Dugg, EST Gee, Chris Brown, G Herbo, Eric Bellinger, Sonny Digital, Vedo, City Girls, just to name a few.
